Libro libre's Wiilliamsburg Bedford Ave site got a rapid, pretty powerful response. We got cleaned out of our books within an hour. Books like Toni Morrison's Sula and Nine Stories by JD Salinger got swept up immediately. Also there was alot of discussion between people concerning the trust/free lending and social intervention nature of the Libro Libre project.

I think it was a great idea to attempt to shift some of the discourse surrounding private ownership and group sharing through our experiment with books. The final success or challenge of the Libro Libre project will be determined as books are returned and shared again or simply kept privately. Tracking through book borrower's sharing blog posts and through our book label sign-in will allow us to better understand the project and consider ways to improve the intervention.
Free books, free to share, in a more free society!

N.7th/Bedford - Williiamsburg, Brooklyn

Libre Libro is now in effect! Mission Accomplished in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Within minutes after Keith and I setup box, passerbys were interested and taking books. We had many fans and grateful people who loved the idea. Some people even asked if they can drop off books to donate. We setup our Libro Box on N.7th/Bedford over unused L magazine box, will be checking back over next few days to see the progress.

Hasta Pronto,

1. Download the outside labels and inserts (click here)

2. Print out the sticker labels and stick them on the outside of your books

Muscleman

big ups to all my fellow book liberators out there;

i scored a sweet read at the libro libre on the bowery; Fitness for Seniors. totally changed my perspective, man. even though i'm only 27, years of smoking, drinking, and partying have left me feeling way over the hill. going to a gym and pumping iron isn't for me, and i needed babysteps to get my fitness up. Fitness for Seniors totally got me going, and now I can make it all the way to my 5th flr walk up without bothering my 3rd flr neighbor for a glass of water and a quick breather on her couch. AWESOME!!!!

highly recommend it; thanks libro libre for saving my life;

just returned Fitness for Seniors, so grab it up when you can; just checked out Deepak Chopra's "The Path to Love." Now that I'm lookin and feelin good, I figure love is the next item on the life agenda. will let everyone know about it when Im done.
peace yo
